"TRaFFF" project on migrant entrepreneurs kicked off in July 2022

05 August 2022

The project "Transnational Families, Farms and Firms: Migrant Entrepreneurs in Kosovo and Serbia from the 1960s to today" (TRaFFF for short) is funded under the Leibniz Cooperative Excellence program for three years. The project was kicked off at the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) in Regensburg in July 2022. Besides IAMO and IOS, the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder is part of the interdisciplinary team. The new project will explore the potential of migrant returnees who use new know-how and their savings to start businesses or contribute new ideas to society. Few places in Europe are shaped by migration as the former Yugoslavia. Zooming in on Serbia and Kosovo, this project explores the social effects of migration and return on origin societies.
